How
the Quiet Fireplace Fan works

Air flow pattern in a Direct vent Fireplace |
|
The Quiet Fireplace Fan is placed underneath the firebox at the back of the opening facing the back wall. It draws cold air in through the grill plate at the bottom of the fireplace, forcing the air to flow up and around the fire box cavity (heating the air as it passes by), and directs heated air out into the living space through the grill plate at the top of the fireplace. It extracts usable heat and puts it into your living space to improve function of your fireplace and decrease your heating bill. The Quiet Fireplace Fan is a lower power (less than 6 watts) and quieter alternative to the typical blower (typically 60 to 100 watts) and does NOT shoot the warm air 8 to 10 feet across the room like the noisy blowers. It gently pushes the warm air out far enough to miss the mantle and prevent it from overheating and is much quieter than the standard "Squirrel Cage Blower" If you are looking for high speed air flow blower performance and are willing to live with the noise, contact your Direct Vent Fireplace manufacturer at LINKS for their recommended blower. |

The heated air passes through the top grill plate with enough speed to carry the heated air out into the room rather than allowing it to drift upwards directly from the grill plate and overheating the mantle. (Many homeowners have stopped using their fireplaces due to this common problem, concerned with heat damage to personal property above the fireplace). The additional warm air mixes with the room air to improve your fireplace function and save on the heating bill. |
